The SPOTLIGHT: Children’s specialty care

Nicklaus Children’s Hospital to open resource center

Contributed | spotlight@swspotlight.com Contributed | spotlight@swspotlight.com At last month’s Naples Press Club meeting, Michael Harrington, president and COO of Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, Miami, announced plans to open a resource center at 659 Fifth Avenue South in downtown Naples. Design and build-out is expected to take less than two months, with an anticipated opening date for the Nicklaus Children’s Hospital Resource Center of early February. Nicklaus Children’s Hospital is South Florida’s only independent, free-standing licensed specialty hospital exclusively for children. The services provided by Nicklaus Children’s Hospital are complementary to services available in Southwest Florida, providing care to children with complex medical issues requiring specialty services — such as surgery for congenital heart defects, epilepsy and brain tumors — and pediatric subspecialists to provide second opinions. Nicklaus Children’s Hospital pediatricians currently staff Collier County’s only pediatric Urgent Care Center, which opened in February 2017 at Pine Ridge and Livingston roads.
